THEME: THE GIRL
READ IT: Memory Verse: Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12 NIV
HEAR IT: Are You Old Enough?
When you are five, you can’t wait until you turn six years old. When you are ten, you think the world will be even better when you’re eleven. When you are sixteen, you are convinced life will be sweeter when you turn seventeen. It’s a never ending cycle. Don’t wait around for next year. Make the most of your life today. God can use you and your talents today. Sing a song for Him, help someone in need, cheer up a friend, or tell someone about His love. See… you don’t have to wait until you are all grown up. Worship God whether you are six, eleven, or ninety-six. Don’t let someone look down on you and say you aren’t old enough, smart enough, or tall enough to do something for God. If God puts it in your heart- do it! Let others see what He is doing in your life and set an example for others. They might just be waiting for someone to take the first step. Be the leader. Be the inspiration. Be the reason someone says, “Hey, if that young girl can live for God, then so can I.”
PRAY IT: (Pray with your group.)
STUDY IT: The Stare
Have you ever experienced the “stare”? Head tilted down, eyes looking over the nose, and don’t forget the lip tightened and pressed together ready to shout out in anger. Teachers give you this “stare” when you whisper to a friend in class. Parents use it when an argument breaks out in the car or in the grocery store. Can you give the “stare”? Find a mirror and give it a try. It takes some practice, but it’s very effective. Jesus’s disciplines needed someone to give them the “stare” one afternoon long ago. Moms and dads were bringing their children to see Jesus. The disciples were upset at the commotion this was causing and began telling the children to go away. Jesus spoke up and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, because the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Jesus understood that kids are people too. Sure, children are shorter, have smaller hands and feet, play silly games, and make weird noises, but children are loved by God. Jesus understood this. He knew children were important long ago and the same is true today. Jesus believed in the young people and blessed them. God has amazing plans to bless you. He has plans for you when you are 7, plans for you when you are 27, and even plans when you reach 107. Don’t wait. Don’t hesitate. If God is leading you to do something, start today!

TRY IT: Childish Goo
Items needed:
White glue, water, 2 small disposable cups, Borax powder, plastic spoon, and food coloring (choose your favorite color)
Directions:
Young kids love slime, clay, or anything messy. Is slime just a kid’s toy? Would adults like it also? Some might. Don’t let others look down on you because of your age. Use the things you love to tell people about Jesus. Can you use slime? Can you use dolls, games, or sports equipment? Be creative! Find a way to use the things you love to tell others about God’s love.
LIVE IT: Youthful Beauty
Being young has its benefits. Young people do not have wrinkles. Young people’s knees do not make noises when they stand up. Young people are much faster at athletic activities. Don’t forget that young people actually have hair that is not gray or falling out. Yes, it’s good to be young. Use your youth to shine for Jesus. Whether it’s your energy, time, or friendliness, use the characteristics God has given you to tell others about Him. If you have lots of energy to run, then use that energy for God. Play sports, give God the glory, and share His love with your teammates. If you are a friendly person and love to talk, use that talkativeness for God. Meet new friends everywhere you go and invite them to join in church activities. If you are creative, use that creative mind for Christ. Make a sculpture, create a video, design a t-shirt to spread the word of God. Use your youthful qualities, don’t hide them. The world is ready for you to step up and take charge. Don’t rely on the wrinkly, bald, and slow-moving adults to do all the work. Everyone must help to save the world!
